Okay, I’m on my way to retirement. Last week, I announced that I was at 400 days and counting down. Today marks 391 days and a few hours.
I set three basic goals toward my end-game, one of which is to get rid of a lot of ‘stuff’. I feel like I can begin to move toward that goal since I, FINALLY, got my dad’s estate settled yesterday; it only took five and one-half years.
Moving towards my goals, I have prepared a Retirement Project Plan. I realize that may sound goofy to some people, but I makes perfect sense to me. My retirement is a project, and a plan that highlights my deliverables (the goals I’ve set) and the tasks to complete those deliverables is a logical way to keep me on track and verify my progress. I’ve even been able to check a couple of tasks off my plan, which is immensely satisfying.
This past weekend I was able to discuss plans for living abroad with a friend who is going with me for a year. We set a date for the living abroad adventure, September 2020. Yippee!
I’m also working to refine my budget, another of the goals I identified in last week’s missive. The ‘getting in shape’ part didn’t see much success this past week. But I’m working on the tasks in my plan to keep that goal on my radar.
It’s a slow start, but an on-going venture that is ever-evolving. Confession time is over. I feel comfortable with this week’s progress. Check back next week, to see if I’ve made more progress.
