The Faster I Go, The Behinder I Get!

OK, so for over a year I have been planning to retire at the end of 2019. I even gave my boss a letter stating my last day would be November 30. Then, the second thoughts sneaked in.

Our state will have an entirely new executive leadership after November’s election, from governor, on down. No one is running for re-election. And I hate to leave my boss (who works for the governor) in a crunch. She will either continue as our agency’s leader with a new governor, or she will be replaced by the new governor. But either way, there will be a transition.

So I talked to her about staying until March 31, 2020, to help her through whatever transition comes her way.

I guess I’m just a glutton for punishment. Plus I’ve been procrastinating the crap out of my decisions. I need to get rid of a LOT of stuff. Not just my stuff, but stuff that mom and dad accumulated over the years. It’s a daunting task that I’m avoiding at all costs. Part of me just wants to throw open the door and say ‘hey, somebody give me money for the whole lot and it’s yours’; but the practical side knows I should at least go through it first. Yuck! Thanks to Rachael and Matt for bringing all those boxes down from the attic.

Now I’ve re-set my retirement clock, only 238 days until retirement, not counting today! Time to get back to the business of planning my next steps. I have the project plan that I need to review to see just how behind I am on those tasks. One way or another, I will be retired soon.  At least from this version of my life.  Who knows what the next chapter may hold?
